How fees work
The answers to what nearly every parent asks before a first session.
Insurance we work with
Hush is out of network with insurance plans, so you pay for each session yourself. We do not take Medicare or Medicaid. If you want a clinician who bills your plan, we will gladly give you the names of colleagues.
Out of network with insurance plans
No Medicare or Medicaid
If you pay yourself
You pay at the end of each session by card, including HSA and FSA cards. Your clinician gives you the fee in writing before you start. A limited number of reduced-fee spots are open; ask how to request one. We ask for 24 hours' notice to change an appointment.
Receipts for reimbursement
Each month we give you an itemized receipt (a superbill) with the dates and kind of session, to send to your plan, which may reimburse part of out-of-network care. It carries a diagnosis code your insurer can see. Your plan decides whether it pays anything, so ask it before you start.
An estimate in advance
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a written estimate of what your care will cost before you start. We give you one before the first session. If the final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.
Checking your benefits
We do not check benefits, because we do not bill your plan. If you want to know whether your plan reimburses, call it before the first session and ask about out-of-network mental health services for a child.
Plainly
What we do not do with fees
Short answers, so you do not have to ask.
No surprise bills
You get the fee in writing before the first session, and a written estimate if you pay without insurance.
No promise of reimbursement
Your plan decides whether it pays anything. We cannot guarantee reimbursement.
A call about fit, if you want one
It is 15 minutes to see whether we fit. That call is not therapy, an evaluation or an assessment.

Questions
Questions about paying
What is the monthly receipt, and how do I use it?
It is an itemized receipt (a superbill) that your plan may use to reimburse part of out-of-network care. It lists the dates and kind of session, and you send it to your plan. It carries a diagnosis code your insurer can see, and your plan decides whether it pays anything.
How much does it cost, and can I use an HSA or FSA card?
Your clinician gives you the fee in writing before you start, and you pay at the end of each session by card. HSA and FSA cards work. A limited number of reduced-fee spots are open; ask how to request one.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for 24 hours' notice to change an appointment. If your child has a hard morning, call us; we would rather move the session than have anyone come in overwhelmed.
Questions about a fee?
Write to us before the first session and we will answer in writing.
